Hello Everybody and Welcome to our Classroom Blog!

The 2016-2017 year is going to be a great one--we've got a wonderful group of kids!  The students have already proven themselves to be a respectful and hardworking group and we've already shared a few laughs.  I can't wait to see what we can accomplish this year!

How to use this blog...
In the coming months I will use this site as a way to let you know what is going on in our neck of the woods.  I will post major test and due dates, field trip information, and general class news so you can see what we are celebrating and what we need to work on.

Please choose 'follow by email' to subscribe to the blog.  You will get an email prompt to let you know when I have added changes (Don't worry: I have it set up so you will only get one email, even if I make 3 posts in a day).  Watch for a confirmation email from "feedburner" to activate your subscription.   It may also help if you are using Chrome or Firefox as your browser.

Students are Still Responsible
It's also worth pointing out that this blog does not replace the kids' agendas.  I want them to build the habit of keeping track of their own assignments so that they are ready for the transition to high school.  Students will have to keep track of their daily homework (there will always be home reading and weekly writing, and sometimes math or other subjects). That said, I know that parents like to know about the bigger projects before they are due.  I promise to post major tests, projects and due dates at least a week in advance.  If kids are getting behind, it is their responsibility to come and see me so we can make a plan to catch up.

Online Payments
This year, we are going to follow the model they are using in the high schools and ALL payments will need to be made online.  Once you are set up, you will find it super easy--you can even pay from your phone!  It also saves our wonderful secretary from having to enter every student's fees individually (our school has grown too big for this!).  Thank-you so much for your help!
Here's how to get set up:

  • STEP 1: Go to:   https://rbe.schoolcashonline.com
  • STEP 2: Register by selecting the “Get Started Now” and follow the steps
  • STEP 3: After you receive the confirmation email, please select the ‘click here’ option, sign in and add each of your children to your household account.
How to Respond
The blog is set up so that only I can post here.  If you have a question or comment for me, please email me at adrienne.sklar@rbe.sk.ca . I encourage you to keep in touch.  :)

Looking forward to a year filled with enthusiastic learning (and even a little fun!),
